The Lebanese Army has confirmed the death of Lebanese Armenian soldier Patrick Bekarian, who had been missing since April 19.
According to the Lebanese Army’s Directorate of Guidance, Bekarian was killed after Israeli forces targeted his vehicle. His body was subsequently withheld by Israeli forces before being returned to Lebanon through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on July 15, nearly three months after his death.
Bekarian was born on Nov. 16, 2002, in Zahle and enlisted in the Lebanese Army in March 2024. During his military service, he received multiple commendations from the Army Commander.
His funeral will take place on July 16 at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Zahle’s Al Maydan district. Condolences will be received at the church before and after the service.
